The destination of Huatulco has received the EarthCheck Certified Gold Certificate for its sustainable environmental practices. The EarthCheck Program is widely regarded as the world's most scientifically rigorous, focused on minimizing harmful emissions while supporting host communities.
Secrets Huatulco strives to protect and preserve the local landscape through clean-ups and reforestation efforts at local beaches and in the Huatulco National Park. In addition, the resort is actively involved in local paper recycling programs and leads the Reciclón project for the Bahia de Huatulco region. Reciclón allows for the collection and proper management of electronic waste for the entire community.
In an effort to keep the local culture alive, Secrets Huatulco provides its guests the opportunity to learn about the region through the “Our Roots” program. The resort also works with local suppliers, schools and businesses on a variety of community programs to support local economic development.
